Sip-N-Shop

If you are in our local area you'll want to mark your calendars for this special event coming up on December 7th!  Exclusive vendors were selected for this extravaganza!  You won't find typical craft fair or home party booths at Black Silo Winery. These vendors are craftsmen (and women) working with their hands to create beautiful gifts for your home and family.  You will love what you'll find at the Sip-N-Shop.  Everything from handcrafted silver jewelry, to furniture, clothing, candles, even candies and yummies like grandma used to make.  You'll have your entire shopping list covered from dinner and dessert to stocking stuffers.

Stop by Black Silo Winery in Trenton, Missouri on Saturday, December 7th to see what's new in the area and finish up your Christmas shopping.  Support local small businesses and take home unique treasures to put under your tree. And heck, if you're not local (which I consider within a 30 miles radius), it'll be worth your drive!  Not only will you see the vineyard and shop with these exclusive businesses, but there's also Chic Salvage just up the road (as in, the chicken crossed the road...).  lol  I know Terri Henderson (the owner) has lots of new and exciting things in her shop as well.  Another local small business owner who prides herself on her handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pieces.  There's lots of talent in Grundy County and the surrounding area.  So come see us!

If you're not local, check out the map to see just how close you are to attend Sip-N-Shop.  You might be surprised how much you'll enjoy our neck of the woods.  ;)

Color Your World

Isn't that usually what our littles do?  They color our world.  Without them we'd be lost.  But sometimes they tend to get a little too colorful.  ;)  They want to tell the world just what they're up to and what they think about any given topic that pops into their minds!  lol  There are times we'd just like them to sit quietly and learn patience (which we ALL know is a very hard thing to master).  Crayon Rolls are here to help.
When you're waiting on your order at a favorite restaurant, when you have been sitting in the doctor's office longer than you expected (and really don't want your little one playing with other toys that sick kids are sharing), or maybe during church service when they just need something to occupy their little hands and minds when sitting still can seem like an eternity to a child.

Pull this little roll out of the diaper bag or your purse and let your kiddo go to work.  We don't always have to have a coloring book...... restaurants sometimes have place mats or even paper covers on tables (they're gonna throw them away you know), the waiting room usually has a receptionist willing to give you a piece of printer paper or use the back of a magazine, and well your church bulletin can be a little mini story book itself.  There's always something to color ON, but not always with.  Until now.  And you don't have to worry about a box of crayons getting torn up or the crayons getting dumped, each little color has it's place.  Like little soldiers in line.
Your kid will love these!!  They make great little stocking stuffers or birthday gifts, teacher gifts or exchange gifts for school parties.  The possibilities are endless.  Who knew crayons could be fun again?!  :)  Ready to go shopping?!  Click HERE!

Models

So, what did yesterdays pile of fabric turn into?  A cute little paneled pinafore dress that sweet Naomi got to model for me.  Since it's been raining for 3 days nonstop (or at least it seems that way) we just got some quick snapshots so I could get the review and pics off to the designer.  This little pinafore is a quick sew and I think you may be seeing some more of them in JHAM Kids collection.  The pattern will be released from Little Kiwis Closet soon!

Pattern Testing

One of the most fun things about sewing is being a pattern tester.  When designers develop new creations we are blessed to be able to test them out.  You make whatever size they request (or that you have models available for), take some photos, review the pattern and instructions for them to make corrections as needed and in return you receive the patterns for free! Some days friends, that is like winning the lottery for two girls who LOVE to sew.  ;)

So guess what I'm working on today!  Two cute little dresses that need to be finished and feedback to the designer completed by tomorrow.  I do my best work under pressure. lol Nothing like waiting till the last minute.

I think you're gonna love what's in store.  Can't wait to share, but for now you just have to imagine what these adorable fabrics will morph into.

Orphan Sunday

It finally came, and yet it's almost over already.  That one day a year when we are given a HUGE voice to advocate for the orphan.  A day set aside to raise awareness for God's waiting children.  Joy and I were blessed to share with our church family this morning why we feel so passionately about this thing called adoption.  It's been a perfect Sunday and I couldn't think of anywhere I'd rather have spent it than by her side sharing our vision.  To find out more about Orphan Sunday check out www.orphansunday.org

Can't believe it's been 4 years already since our very first Orphan Sunday presentation.  I know I speak for Joy when I say we are looking forward to MANY more to come!

It's Fall Y'all!

I love fall!  It's my favorite time of the year.  I think Thanksgiving very well could be my favorite holiday.  It's a close race with Christmas.  I think there's not enough attention given to Thanksgiving.  We jump right from Halloween into Christmas mode.  Heck, the stores put out Christmas decorations BEFORE Halloween this year.  I'd say that's excessive.  Don't even get us started on how commercial that holiday has become.  So for now, we celebrate Thanksgiving!  There are so, soooo many things in our lives to be thankful for.  I know Joy is thankful for the chance to be a mother to two very special little girls who will one day grow up to be her best friends.  Not to mention the friendships she already has with her boys.  I'm thankful for the opportunities that God has blessed us with in serving others.  I hope we teach our kids the greater joy of giving (and serving) more than receiving.
Being thankful is one of the reasons we started this little mission.  Our project of sewing in order to serve others.  Our long-term goal with JHAM is to help support and maintain an orphanage in Montrious, Haiti.  We want to make sure kids have warm, DRY beds they don't have to necessarily share.  They are fed no less than one meal a day.  They will have fresh, clean drinking water. They will get regular medical checkups and medicine when needed. They will be given the opportunity to have an education.  Most don't realize how very vital this is when you don't have that privilege.  And one day, we hope to support adoptions. What great joy to join children with families.  With moms and dads.  So for now, we continue to sew, to raise funds to help feed the children rice and beans.  We pray.  We give.  We look forward to going, again.  Today we are thankful for the opportunities He has given us already and thank Him for the ones to come.

Cooler weather is upon us and we have been testing new winter patterns and have some exciting new outfits and outerwear coming up very soon!  Can't wait to share all the exciting little goodies.  For today, check out how cute Jia is in her long sleeve Go To Dress.  Simple, comfy, and soooo adorable!  :)  The shopping cart will be ready soon!  Start making your wishlist!
